Do you like pina coladas?

given all of the rain we've had in boston (i think it has rained every day), i'm thinking about our honeymoon and the beautiful island of aruba.

I'm hungry.

Since we've recently sent out our invitations, we've started to get a handful of responses. (All accepts so far!) and Jarrett and I are keeping a tally of the steak vs. chicken decision.

We think it's about 17-15 in favor of steak... but who knows. However, it got me thinking-our menu is YUMMY and I should share :)

Lobster Ravioli
Pillows of Sweet Lobster Meat, Seasoned Ricotta, and fresh Thyme Topped with a Rich Saffron Lobster Cream Sauce

Classic Caesar Salad

Crisp Romaine Lettuce Tossed with Pecorino Romano Cheese, Seasoned Croutons
And house made Creamy Caesar Dressing

Your Choice of:

Grilled Aged New York Sirloin
Accompanied by caramelized baby pearl onions finished with Creamy Au Poivre Sauce

Or

Herb Crusted Statler Chicken Saltimbocca
Tender Chicken lightly sautéed and topped with Baby Spinach, Fontina Cheese, Prosciutto
And Fire Roasted Yellow and Red Peppers finished with a white wine butter sauce

Wedding Cake

White Cake layered with Chantilly Cream and Fresh FruitServed with a Chocolate Dipped Strawberry

.....and on that note... is it lunch yet?

Favors

I've attended quite a few weddings the past couple of years and seen a lot of people do different things with favors. We saw wine stoppers, donations to charity, matchbooks... all things that are cute, themed with the wedding and nice. I was debating what we'd do...I didn't want something people would never use, I didn't want to do something we'd already seen done, but I was struggling coming up with something I liked.

We ultimately decided on fans with our names printed on them. It's a summer wedding, ceremony is outside and I remember sweating at Janelle's wedding from the heat and it wasn't a long ceremony! So, we decided to get these to put on the ceremony chairs and hopefully keep people somewhat cool during the ceremony. Hope you'll like it :)

We got them from theKnot.com who has had some great sales lately, so I highly recommend checking it out. I searched a lot of sites for fans that weren't outrageously priced, but were also good quality.

We have a lot to do.

60 days!!!!!

Today I was introduced to a website called Etsy. (I knew of this site, but hadn't spent that much time there). A girl at work is getting married next year and I wish I knew of this sooner! There is a designer there who is amazing and I am now following her blog, Jessica's Design Shop. (what a great name!) I'm also realizing that the little things are the ones that make you freak out, and I am about to be in full on FREAK OUT MODE. For a real freak out, please see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nFDnC8SSWQ&feature=related, it's priceless.

Additionally it has brought me to a couple of places.
  1. I am doing menus and those are finalized--phew!
  2. Programs--I really want to do this, but I haven't even begun to finalize the ceremony components so this is a July task.
  3. Bathroom Baskets (http://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Make-Great-Bathroom-Baskets-for-Weddings). I really want to do this and think they are adorable. Is it worth it? Are people actually going to use the stuff?
  4. Place cards. So Courtney introduced me to this awesome idea I am thinking about doing instead of place cards, thoughts? I think it is adorable and such a neat way of doing it.

OHMYGOD, we are 2 months away!!! (from tomorrow)

OK OK, so I'm early.

Our fingers hurt. We spent last night stuffing the envelopes for the invitations! Yes people, you'll be receiving them in a few days and then I can finally post a copy of it! Kudos to Susan for her amazing job!

I also went and did my fitting and picked out my veil, a cathedral veil similar to the one below. Lots of alerations, so I can't wait to see it when it's done. It will actually fit the way I want and hopefully look the way I want ;-) <<5>> I think it's just so stunning.

Do they make wedding vitamins, similar to pre-natal vitamins? I'm sickkkkk. :(

I'm single!

HAHAHHA. JUST KIDDING.

Jarrett and I went this afternoon to pick out our wedding bands. Operation wedding bands complete. But, I am without my engagement ring today and feel naked! I had to give it to our ring guy so he could size the diamonds etc...but since we've been engaged I've never been without my rings!
As I am now without them, maybe i should go to the bar and see if I get treated differently, pick up some men? I KID.
In case anyone is wondering what they look like (not exact, I just stole these from a random website--lol)

Because we all need a laugh.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsDyLg4pIYI

ENOUGH SAID.

WE ARE OLD.

This weekend we celebrated Veronica & JP's Engagement by going into Boston. We got there around 7pm, and we left around 11:30 and a lot of people left around 12:30. We left when we used to get there! But the main reason I call us old... is the conversations we had while there.

We talked about the shower and the wedding... and how much we're looking forward to partying in Newport for my bachelorette. But we also talked about babies, and children, and work...it came up a lot.

"What's new?" (Haven't seen you in 2 years)
"Not much, working... um... working..."

"Sorry we're late, we were doing yard work, errands, AND/OR house stuff"

"What are you up to this weekend?"
"We did some errands, grocery shopping, etc...same old"

Our lives are straight out of old school.

Frank: I told my wife I wouldn't drink tonight. Besides, I got a big day tomorrow. You guys have a great time. College Student: A big day? Doing what? Frank: Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.

may i have this dance?

i had a funny day today. One of my clients came into the office and he just returned from his honeymoon this week. We were chatting about the wedding and he said they picked their wedding song the day of! I thought this was funny, but this is both of their 2nd marriages and things are different. In the course of this conversation he mentioned that they took dance lessons and then didn't even dance like that...and then proceeded to tango in the conference room. But it got me thinking. OMG we can't dance. Sure we can dance like you do at high school dances swaying side to side...but not really dance.

So Jarrett has been put in charge of our dance lessons...and he has secured us a few lessons next month. More to come on this as I'm sure I'll have some hilarious stories.

We're getting married!

I have to admit, I think we got a little caught up in all the planning. The flowers, the hair, the party, the stuff you all will love. But last night, we met with our minister and I realized how important the ceremony is. I know, I'm being a little cheesy... but he said he is almost always the last stop for couples for their wedding and that does seem a little silly right? It is the whole purpose isn't it?

So Jarrett and I get to our look-alike Borat minister's house (you will not steal my tears Gypsy!) and sat down for over 2 hours planning the ceremony. (If you see my today, and notice the bags under my eyes, you know why). He lives 45 minutes away and we left at 10:30pm. But it was funny. I was expecting something boring and instead I walked away remembering this wedding is about celebrating, but also about us starting our lives together.

Now, I have some homework to do...and part of that are the readings. One of the readings I have chosen is a poem that my awesome cousin Sarah will be reading. I really wanted her to be a part of the special day and I absolutely adore this poem. I think it represents exactly how I feel about love and makes me a little teary eyed reading it. I thought I would share it with you.

THE KEY TO LOVE
The key to love is understanding…..
The ability to comprehend not only the spoken word
But those unspoken gestures
The little things that say so much by themselves.
The key to love is forgiveness…..
To accept each others faults and pardon mistakes
Without forgetting, but with remembering
What you learn from them.
The key to love is sharing…..
Facing your good fortunes as well as the bad, together
Both conquering problems, forever searching for ways
To intensify your happiness.
The key to love is giving…..
Without thought of return
But with the hope of just a simple smile
And by giving in but never giving up.
The key to love is respect…..
Realizing that you are two separate people, with different ideas
That you don’t belong to each other
That you belong with each other, and share a mutual bond.
The key to love is inside us all…..
It takes time and patience to unlock all the ingredients
That will take you to its threshold
It is the continual learning process that demands a lot of work…..
But the rewards are more than worth the effort….
And that is the key to love.

Some things on my mind.

As we get closer and closer to the wedding day, my mind is racing and constantly thinking about all the little things; in the shower, in my sleep, while at work etc. I can't stop. So I thought by putting some of it out there, I'll give myself some serenity... (also, I'm currently installing Office 2007 on my laptop and this is about all I can do while I wait).

  • Crash dieting. I have 2.5 months to get done 5-10 lbs. I'm trying hard, definitely going to the gym more & trying to eat healthier...but the more I try not to think about food, the more I want to eat! Jarrett & I have been cooking healthy meals, and I'm trying hard not to buy junk at the grocery store. I know every bride has this challenge...but damn this is hard. I was seriously tempted to buy some slim fast yesterday LOL.

  • Seating chart. Jarrett seems to think this will be "fun". I think his math brain is twisted for even remotely considering this exercise could be fun. It sounds like torture...nails on chalkboard torture. Who can't sit with who, who doesn't know a lot of people etc. Ahhh.

  • Father/Daughter dance. I just can't pick it. It's a lot harder than it seems, and I'm trying desperately not to pick a cliche song...but I just can't find one that is just right. It's a big deal and has been taking foreverrrrrr.

  • Photography. I've been googling and thinking about what photos are must haves. I want some of the traditional family photos, but then I want some that are out of the box, unplanned etc. There is a huge balcony at Indian Pond, with stairs going down onto the golf course, and I really want a "Bentley" shot there. All the people that we went to college with in a really neat way--and others like that.

  • Shoes. I need wedding shoes by June 14th, and I'm stuck. I just can't find anything I like out there...and I want something a little different and comfortable. I actually saw some a girl on some blog who wore bright colored shoe to match her colors. I'm not sure how I feel about yellow shoes, but something a little different would be fun. I feel like I've looked everywhere, and just can't find something I like.

I'm sure to have another post on this topic... :P
