Times are a changin'

Some of you were probably wondering why my blog was suddenly private. This was only temporary and by the time you can read this it will be public again. Why do you ask when it's been MONTHS since I last blogged?

Well lot's of things going on with the Britts and life just got in the way ;-) We had a wonderful (and fast) summer, filled with lots of family QT, a trip to Europe and some amazing weddings. We started planning for 2012 and all the little things we want to do to the house, the trips we wanted to take and even talked about potentially starting a family sometime...

and well, you guessed it. some time came a lot sooner than I was planning for. All of a sudden, we came back from Miami and something didn't seem right. I wasn't feeling myself and a positive pregnancy test told us I was 6 weeks pregnant. I'm not one to hide things so I'll tell you honestly--I was SHOCKED. I was so surprised that I couldn't even truly muster a smile. The ultimate guilt. I don't know if woman want to admit this, but it's really hard to go from being a 20 something gal to PREGNANT. no drinking, no unpasteurized cheese, no deli meat...oh and exhausted. Tired in your bones, in a way no man could ever understand. And now, well, the nausea. I want to throw up constantly. My body was hijacked by something the size of a pencil eraser.

And at 10 weeks now, I'm ever so close to being able to reveal the news to the world. I'm in a much better place emotionally, yes, i'm excited :P (and scared out of my mind) but I'm still feeling le mis. And as I write this, it's Saturday night and I should be at 1 of 3 christmas parties. But instead, i'm sitting on my couch watching tv because I literally cannot get up and feel like puking. And the idea of pretending to drink two nights in a row makes me ill. Did I mention it's 9:30 and I feel like it's 2am? But I can say, I'm sitting in on a Saturday night with the absolute most wonderful husband in the world. He chose not to go out. I cried because it made me so happy. And then I laughed for crying? (oh hormones) Did I mention the bagel he got me this morning? (because if I can eat, it's only starch). And then the soup he tried to make me? And the countless tasks I asked him to do while I sat on the couch in misery? If there is one thing this baby has done thus far...it's make me realize how lucky "it" will be to have this man as their father.

Love is in the air. A Labor Day Movement.

What a fabulous four day weekend it was indeed. We started with a light drizzle and a lobster bake for the rehearsal on Friday. Hurricane Earl missed us luckily. I was able to spend some QT with the girls, Nicole and Nick's family and friends and really get excited for the weekend. I had so much fun with their families and friends I had never met, and loved to meet and get to know the people Nick and Nicole share so much of their time with.

The location was STUNNING. Even more beautiful in person, and the weather held out most of the day, with the exception of a minor rain storm during pictures. It stopped just in time and even gave us a couple of rainbows :)

I can't believe they are off on their honeymoon. I can't believe Nicole's wedding has happened. A year ago Nick proposed, and here they are married!

The Matron of Honor speeches were a success. Both Kerri and I laughed and then cried, and swore we wouldn't. Jarrett said I was even funny, quite the compliment. We danced and danced and danced...Trisha *almost* caught the bouquet, much to TJ's dismay. Like a Prayer is a lot longer of a song than we thought and I was able to make it almost halfway through the reception before changing into flip-flops. I am so happy for Nick and Nicole, and I was so lucky to be part of their special day.

And so now, we have a week off without a wedding event of some sort. An amazing weekend planned with a nice dinner for my birthday and the Patriots game on Sunday. And then another wedding weekend to celebrate with some more fabulous people and 3 more to go. When you initially think about 6 weddings in a year, it's slightly overwhelming, however...I'm now feeling lucky we are able to celebrate all of these special days.

Post-Anniversary

I'm sorry I've been a bad blogger, but things have been busy. The combination of travel, anniversary, work, puppies and the usual craziness of life and blogging has taken a back seat.

I will say, our anniversary was fabulous. Charlotte was different than I was expecting. The wedding we attended was smack in the downtown area at this gorgeous and fabulous restaurant high above the city, which I learned is nothing like Boston. Best analogy, think financial district on Sunday when everything is closed. The city is owned by BOFA and seems to shut down on the weekends because no one is working. Even Starbucks was closed. However, Chic-Fil-A did reopen in time for me to have my chicken mini's for breakfast and the Epi-Center was .2 seconds away with bars, bowling, Coldstone, CVS, Five Guys...the list goes on. I wish I had time to visit some other places. Some of the homes were STUNNING, and I know there was many bars we just didn't know to visit. We also ate like kings and queens, and my stomach is still trying to recover. We opened some fabulous wines, drank a lot of champagne and toasted to the past year being so absolutely wonderful.

And the Ritz...oh my god. Words do not even describe. From being upgraded to a suite, to massages, to being wished Happy Anniversary in more ways than one, boy do they know how to do customer service. No wonder people pay the extra $$. All I can say is well done.

So now the countdown begins to Nicole's wedding in 13 days!! And a MOH speech I need to perfect

The Month of Love

Love is in the air.

What's up with the cheesy posts you say? Well, in 14 days Jarrett and I will celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. It seems strange to say one year given we've been together for almost 8 years! But in honor of this and the upcoming nuptials of our friends in the next few weeks, I figured I'd get a little sappy.

This was the quote we put on our wedding programs, and I just adore it. I hope you all have found someone who makes you happy, who allows you to be you, and loves you regardless.

Finally I have found a place into which I fit perfectly, safely, and securely. With no doubts, no fears, no sadness, no tears... this place is filled with happiness, and laughter, yet it is spacious enough to allow me the freedom to move around, to live my life, and to be myself... This wonderful place, which I never believed really existed, I have found finally... Inside your arms, inside your heart, inside your love.

Happy Engagiversay!

Is that even a word?

Two years ago, I was completely surprised during dessert after an amazing wine dinner at La Campania by Jarrett when he asked me to marry him. I can't believe it's already been two years and how amazing my life is because of him.

Already counting the hours until we enjoy dinner there! T-8 hours...

Bipolar Bride...

For about the past week, every night I have had a nightmare. I toss and turn and wake up exhausted wondering why. Last night while watching tv and chatting about the wedding, I told Jarrett i thought it was so funny that i was stressing so much, but all my nightmares relate to the tasks, nothing to do with us. None of my nightmares have anything to do with him...or even getting married--just the little details.

Yknow when you first meet a guy and you get a lump in your throat or butterflies when you see them? You can't wait to talk to them, and don't want to call too much etc? Well, after 6 1/2 years, I don't get that feeling every time I see him. Not because I love him any less, but it's different. So as I am driving to work on Friday and thinking about our upcoming wedding i realized i had a lump in my throat at the prospect of marrying JJB. I was so excited I couldn't stand it.

So in 2 days, I've gone from crazy bridezilla to sappy excitied bride. BIPOLAR much?!

ONE MONTH!!!

holy moly batman. wasn't it just yesterday we got engaged? If fact it was one year and 2 days ago that jarrett proposed to me at La Campania.

well as of today, we are one month away (31 days) from the day i have been waiting for since i realized that i wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. (i think i realized slightly before he did, ha!) the countdown has begun.

We have a lot to do, little details to finalize...but both of us are over the moon. I find myself trying on my wedding band at least once a week and daydreaming at work about the day. I'm totally obsessed with people's pictures of other people's weddings and any good facebook wedding stalking i find ;-)

thank you all for putting up me with in advance. I cannot wait for August 16!!!!!!!!

Love is in the air....

Is something in the air? I think it may be in part spring, the sun inching its way out and putting me in a better mood, the need for sunglasses or maybe the fact that countdown is getting shorter and shorter, or maybe that Jarrett just puts a smile on my face for no reason. People tell us to enjoy the engagement, and I know why...there is something romantic about it all. I know I'm a complete cheeseball, but as I sit here in my empty hotel room in California, I can't help it.

And since wedding season is starting up (I find myself obsessed with other people's wedding blogs and wedding details)...I'm going to post some pictures of our friends previous weddings and some of the good times we had at their weddings!
