FML.

I've been scouring the internet today, a result of a terrible day waiting to see if any of my last minute deals come in... wishing one client, just one would throw me a bone! But of course not. I hate to be sappy, but Jarrett has been amazing. He puts up with my mood swings and everything you wake up the next day and think WTF?! but can't help it.

A girl I work with asked how I was planning a wedding while dealing with the stress of work and I remembered the wedding is what has been keeping my head above water, keeping me from going into a deep depression and what I look forward to every single day. For a long time I wasn't thinking about it as much but now it's constantly on my mind.

I've picked our invitations and the menu is finalized (and it's delicious!)...but I will NOT be sharing those details with you. Sorry! But we need to keep a few surprises up my sleeve. I've also pretty much finalized my flowers, just making some minor tweaks. As you'll notice I'm switching a lot from I to WE. Basically, Jarrett signs off on things but really only cares about what food we eat, what music we listen to, and what we have for booze ;-)

Enough of my ramblings, time to go close that last deal. OR NOT! :(

Club Wedd

We FINALLY finished our registry...and just in time. We went to Target for the last of it, and what a difference between Target & C&B. It was so much easier at C&B.... but let's face it, that gun is cool no matter where you are. Some guy definitely invented that because he needed a reason to go into the store and participate. HAHAH Just kidding--but it did keep Jarrett entertained and much more engaged.

So we get home and I went online to check and more stuff was bought! How exciting :) I probably shouldn't be admitting this, but I constantly check. I can't avoid it. And you can't tell me every bride doesn't do this.

I also stopped into Swarovski (which i believe i was randomly mispronouncing all week) to pick out my wedding jewelery. I had every intention JUST to get the earrings, but walked away with the following three things. They will all be stored at my Mom's place until the wedding so I won't sneak a wearing between now and then. I would do that ;-)

EARRINGS

I just wanted something plain and elegant.

BANGLES

I highly recommend checking them out. I found a million things that are just gourgeous and not too expensive.
Hope you are all enjoying and my blabbing is at least slightly interesting.

What actually changes?

A lot of people like to make a big deal out of getting married. I understand...it's for real. There is no turning back, you are forever tied to eachother...til death do you part. In the past week, I've had more people ask me about my wedding and then proceed to tell horrible stories about how they got divorced or cheated or who knows what. Bizarre...

But it got me thinking. What really changes?

  • My name.... I will officially be Jessica Britt
  • Our bank account, (going this weekend to get a joint account)
  • .......?????

We already live together, we already stay in on a Friday night after a long day of work with a glass of wine and a movie and head to bed before midnight.

And don't get me wrong, I am SO excited to marry Jarrett...but I think it's funny all these people make a fuss, but I'm just excited, not nervous.

Maybe Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.

This weekend was insane with wedding stuff.

Saturday involved us driving to Kingston to visit Indian Pond and meet with our wedding coordinator. (For those of you who haven't seen it, http://www.indianpondcountryclub.com/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp).

We went over every single detail of the wedding. Every...single...detail. Things I didn't even think about. (Will you have your own cake knife?, what type of guestbook?, card box or card basket?) We were exhausted...but it was nice, Jarrett and I were done in an hour and complemented for knowing a lot!

We then headed to Plymouth to have some lunch (and a very large margarita at Sam Diego's) and then to check out the house we rented for the week before the wedding. It's close to the beach, big backyard and the future home of the Britt Wedding Pre-Party.

Sunday involved our DJ appt to review the details of the day that we know so far. Who walks with who...what songs we love and hate. (There will be NO love shack or Marcarena)... But yes, we WILL have some don't stop believin', take me home tonight and other fabulous classics like that ;-). Then we headed to pick out the suits for the groomsmen...what an experience. Calling all the guys to get their sizes because our pick is also EXTREMELY popular with other wedding groups.
Here is a sneak peek at the suit with Jarrett's tie.

So now I gloat...we are kicking a$$ with wedding details. I can't believe how much there is to do...but the few things I do every weekend makes it hopefully less stressful as the wedding gets closer. I'm afraid of my brideszilla moment come summer ;0

Roses are red....

Two posts in one day! But really it's just pictures....

1) We've decided on colors... pale green and yellow. I'm obsessed now. OBSESSED. I met with my florist (I love her... ) and picked a ton of stuff. Here is some ideas (not exact) of what my bouquet will look like. No tulips or pink obviously... but whites and greens and hydrangea based..

2) Bridesmaid Dresses!!!

I love them. Designed by Coren Moore (http://corenmoore.com/) and I got them at Flair Bridesmaid on Newbury St.

ENJOY :)

You asked for it...

So I have been blogging for a few weeks now, to no one. Not one person has been reading it. I didn't tell anyone I was doing it. I'm not sure WHY, but I sort of liked it. But... NIKKI has found me! and what's the point of hiding it? I guess I just didn't think I had much to talk about.

So per the advice of blogger extrordinare--Nikki "Mama" Ferrante (I almost wrote MUKAI!)...I'll be updating you on some wedding stuff here and there, with random tidbits of things that annoy me--people who can't wait to let everyone off of the train before they push their way on (more on that later).

So get ready, and i won't be afraid to tell you I told you so :-)

5 months and counting...

Yesterday officially marked 5 months until the big day. Aside from work and the struggles I am having because of the economy, the wedding is pretty much all I can think about. Maybe it is the weather starting to improve...maybe it is the long and tiring florist and invitation appointments... who knows!

But it's all starting to come together. And now...I can't wait! It couldn't come fast enough. Luckily I have my shower in May to look forward to and a bachelorette party in July as checkpoints, ways to keep me hanging in there. And a good excuse to see all of my favorite people :)

In like a lion...

"If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb."
And boy did it. Yesterday we all awoke to about 12" of snow here in Boston. I can't believe it... and just last week I lost a glove (and wonder, will they ever sell single gloves??) and am ill-prepared for another month of winter.
I'm also annoyed about the man who is supposed to shovel our walkways, and didn't until 5-6pm last night!! unbelievable.
I wonder if schools will be going until August with the amount of snow days they've had! Boy, don't you wish companies had snow days where you just got a special unexpected day off and got to play outside and ignore responsibilities? HAHA...although i did work from home and that was much nicer.
